This presentation given on November 12, 2022 at the Fall Conference of the de Nicola Center for Ethics & Culture, University of Notre Dame attempts to summarize the uses and senses of the term "dignity" in different historical periods, in order to consider whether or not the word is helpful in contemporary bioethical debate.
